TD50: Learning in the knowledge society

28 February 2010 No Comment Published by MariaA

Today’s society is crossed by the dynamics, unthinkable until a few decades ago (increasing pervasiveness of digital technologies, scientific and technological development, new social behaviors, emerging economies …) that determine the need for new models to develop and configure knowledge as an increasingly strategic resource for economic progress, social and quality of life. The nature of knowledge has changed and is continuing to change: from stable entity, and located in dynamic, distributed entities that the individual, along the arc of life, found and constructed in many different places. Processes and education and training systems must reconfigure themselves to take account of individual and social needs and changing characteristics of the population learns.

TD 50 will focus on issues that the knowledge society poses to educators and education systems in terms of methods and content of learning and the relationship between technology and education and between school and society. We expect in particular contributions that stimulate reflection and / or propose specific answers to the following questions.

* What new cognitive and meta cognitive skills are required in the knowledge society?
What learning situations favoring its development?
* What are the dimensions of the relationship between education and the Internet?
Internet universe as encyclopedias?
Place of connection and participation?
Cognitive gym?
What skills in the game?
* Institutional learning and informal learning:
It is important to connect these learning spaces?
What are the criteria and ways to activate pathways virtuous link between them?
How to enable synergies between the skills of educators and those of students?
* Educational systems deficiencies at the intersection of traditional and new educational needs of the student population and new features:
Knowledge and know how to attach skin deep, stable knowledge and knowledge disposable?
Knowledge that you have and knowledge of which still do not have?
How to integrate the transmissive mode of learning with the constructive methods of the workshop?
What situations and what ways of working to engage students and help to generate meaning?
* Learning to deal with a reality of increasing complexity:
What conceptual tools we can tackle the complexity?
What environments and situations can foster the ability to act in complexity, to communicate and learn complex content?

Researchers, teachers and industry experts are invited to contribute to reflection on these issues by sending your contribution by April 20, 2010,
