Instructional Design for motivated and competent learning in digital world
Call For Paper, Deadline: April 15, 2010
EARLI SIG 6 (Instructional Design) in cooperation with SIG 7 (Learning and Instruction with Computers) announces the conference:
Instructional Design for motivated and competent learning in a digital world
THEME
Recently several studies of educational research do not only address cognitive aspects of learning and instruction. They additionally analyze motivational aspects like interests, self-concepts, attributions etc. This holistic approach seems to be especially fruitful for analyzing computer based learning environments. The digital world often attracts learners first on a motivational level –its fun to use these tools -and only afterwards learners focus on knowledge acquisition. Hence, one main issue of our meeting is to learn more about the interdependencies of motivation and cognition in (computer-based) learning.
Despite this special focus we also invite you to submit papers or posters with a broad view on instructional design and computer based learning. We would also like to encourage you to submit work that is still in progress. We will reserve a special category for this type of work in our program.
Ph.D. Workshop
Before the conference starts officially, on Monday, August 30, we will have a Workshop for Ph.D. Students. They can present their project in a short presentation of about 5 to 10 minutes. The project can be from first to last stage of progress. Two or three senior researchers will chair the session and will give feedback to the juniors beforehand. There is a special submission format and a separate submission deadline (June 15th, 2010). More details on the conference website.
