Who we are

The Collaborative Knowledge Building Group (CKBG) arose from the need to create a community where ideas could be shared amongst researchers interested in computer-supported learning environments. This project aims to provide answers for those who are interested in collaborative learning strategies supported by technological tools. The community is supported by the Knowledge Forum, an online environment created by OISE University of Toronto research group, and co-ordinated by Marlene Scardamalia and Carl Bereiter, with whom the CKBG is in co-operation. The goals of the project are:

  • promoting a virtual space where Italian and other researchers can discuss and solve problems concerning the application of new technologies;
  • promoting researcher co-operation, oriented towards the application of technologies;
  • co-operating with different Knowledge Building communities from foreign countries (including those in developing countries);
  • generating educational tools and establishing new educational methodologies across a range of levels (from Primary School to University).
