Who we are

The Collaborative Knowledge Building Group (CKBG) was born from the need to create a community for the exchange of ideas and collaboration between researchers who are interested in training in online environments. The project was conceived by people who share a passion for collaborative learning and an interest in the technological environments that can support it.

This association was founded by Italian university professors and researchers from different disciplinary fields, in particular psychology, pedagogy and sociology, with consolidated experience in the use of technologies to support collaborative processes. The idea of an association of this type was born in August 2001 in Freiburg, during a congress where the poor ability of Italian research to influence contexts was reflected; the idea of giving birth to an associative body that would place this objective in its mission seemed like a functional response.

Mission

The Collaborative Knowledge Building Group (CKBG) aims to:

  • create a space for discussion among Italian researchers on research and application problems concerning new technologies in the field of education;
  • create synergies and research and application collaborations between the various participants;
  • create a space for discussion and collaboration with other communities of the same type present in foreign countries (with particular attention and support to those in the southern hemisphere);
  • create a tool to support teaching at different levels, from university to basic school.
